Animated Landscape

The steps I took in the animation workflow were first setting up my landscape, by sorting every item I wanted to animate into its own layer. Next, I downloaded the landscape as an Ai file, opened a new document in After Effects, selected the landscape as footage, and set it to open as a composition. After that, I set it to 1620 x 1080 in the composition settings at the top of the screen. I then clicked Layer>New>Null Object, which I used to scale and continuously rasterize my layers using the parent pick whip. Next up, I added the simple animations that just require me to create a motion path for the subject. After that, I used position keyframes to make more complex animation, mainly pose-to-pose animations. Then I used the puppet pin tool to make a more complex animation of getting the leaves to look like they’re moving with the wind. After that, I added a new solid layer, went into the effects and added a rain effect in the foreground. Next, I converted youtube videos to mp3 files and added them into my composition. Finally, I downloaded the composition and uploaded it to youtube.

In Ai and Ae, the aspects that were easiest for me were the simple animations and keyframes from Ae. The most challenging was learning how to set the landscape to not be so pixelated. I overcame this by following the instructions on how to set it up so it would continuously rasterize.
